Badrinath Temple is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhand. This temple is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is considered one of the four Dhams. Every Hindu in the world aspires to do Badrinath yatra at least once in their lifetime to have darshan of Lord Vishnu.
First of all, let us talk about how you can reach Badrinath Dham. Friends, our journey starts from Haridwar or Rishikesh. Both places are well connected by direct trains or buses. However, Haridwar is a better option because it offers more bus services to Badrinath. Plan your Badrinath yatra accordingly and reach Haridwar by 6 PM. Upon arrival, you can book the next morning’s bus from the travel agents near Haridwar Bus Stand, or you can also book your bus tickets online.
If we talk about staying in Haridwar, there are many Dharamshalas near the bus stand.
Located just 550 meters from the bus stand, you will have multiple room options available here, including AC and non-AC accommodations.
Situated 1.2 km from the bus stand, it provides budget-friendly two, three, and four-bedded rooms.
Approximately 1.5 km away from the bus stand, this ashram features basic amenities and is known for its peaceful environment.
Located about 3 km from the bus stand, it offers both AC and non-AC rooms along with meals, catering to various dietary needs.
Remember, the sooner you leave Haridwar, the earlier you will reach Badrinath. The distance from Haridwar to Badrinath is about 315 km.
Bus tickets cost around ₹700 to ₹800. Keep in mind that these buses operate early in the morning, between 4 AM to 9 AM. The bus journey takes 10-11 hours to reach Badrinath.
If you miss the morning bus, you can opt for a shared taxi from Haridwar to Badrinath, which costs around ₹800 per person. For a personal car, it costs ₹9,000 to ₹10,000 one way and ₹15,000 to ₹16,000 for a round trip. During your Badrinath trip, you will also pass by the Panch Prayag – DevPrayag, Rudraprayag, Karn Prayag, Nand Prayag, and finally, Vishnu Prayag.
Once you reach Shri Badrinath, you can find accommodation near the bus stand. The temple is about 1 km from there.
Some accommodation options available near the bus stand:
We stayed at Beriwala Guest House, which We booked through Yatradham.org. They offer various room options, such as double-bed, three-bed, or even five-bedrooms.
After resting for the night, continue your Badrinath trip and head to the temple the next morning. You can bathe in the hot water pond at the temple before darshan, and if it is June, then expect long waiting times of at least 4-5 hours.
In September or October, you can complete the darshan within 1-1.5 hours. Don’t forget to chant “Jai Badri Vishal” during darshan because it is the sole purpose of your Badrinath yatra.
There are other temples of various Gods and Goddesses in the temple premises that you should visit. You can sit on the temple premises, where you will feel a sense of peace and tranquility.
Now, let us talk about registration for Badrinath Travel because it is mandatory and checked at multiple places. We will advise you to register your Badrinath yatra on the official website of Uttarakhand Tourism.
After visiting Badrinath Ji, you can explore nearby places like the first village of India, Saraswati River, and Vasu Dara Waterfall, which is considered sacred and peaceful.
Regarding food, Badrinath trip offers many restaurants where you can enjoy a tasty thali for around ₹100-₹150. The best time to complete Badrinath temple is September-October because, during this period, there is less crowd, and the prices of food and accommodation are reasonable.
Note: Avoid Badrinath travel during the rainy season (July-August) due to landslides.
