Kedarnath is one of the most famous and well-visited pilgrimage sites in our journey. According to ancient stories, it’s believed that Kedarnath is where Lord Shiva granted the Pandavas forgiveness after they prayed to him following the end of the Kurukshetra war. “Kedar” is another name for Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is a sacred place dedicated to Lord Shiva, and it’s home to the northernmost Jyotirlinga, which is a special representation of Lord Shiva.
Early Morning. We Will drive up to Guptkashi. The name “Guptkashi” translates to Hidden Benaras, and is derived from the legend that Lord Shiva once hid himself from the Pandavas at this location. Guptkashi is a wonderfully pleasant place to visit in the summers. The temperature never goes beyond 30 degrees. During the winter months, however, it can get Considerably chilly. We make the journey via the Devprayag and Rudraprayag route, which offers us breathtaking Glimpses of river Alaknanda and Mandakini. One interesting fact is that river Mandakini actually Originates from Kedarnath, which only adds to the spiritual energy and aura that makes this Entire trip special. While driving alongside the river, we soon find ourselves at the Ardh Narishwar temple at Guptkashi. After taking some time to visit the temple and offer prayers, we check into our hotel, And take the night to recuperate.
On the second day of our Chardham journey, we're heading to Kedarnath, which is one of the most famous stops on our trip. According to ancient stories, Kedarnath is the place where Lord Shiva granted the Pandavas forgiveness after their prayers, following the Kurukshetra war. "Kedar" is another name for Lord Shiva. The Kedarnath shrine is set against the stunning backdrop of the Kedarnath Mountain range and is located in a truly majestic spot. Since it sits at an altitude of 3,583 meters, the weather there is usually quite chilly. Even during the summer months, it's a good idea to wear light to moderately warm clothing. In winter, it's so cold that most people avoid visiting due to the harsh climate. To reach the Kedarnath shrine, you have two main options. You can take a helicopter (please note that this is not included in the package cost), which will drop you off at the helipad in the morning after breakfast. This option is quicker but more expensive. Alternatively, you can choose to trek. You'll be driven to Sonprayag, from where a local jeep will take you to Gaurikund, your starting point for the trek. To return, you'll follow the same route and take a local jeep back to Sonprayag. Regardless of the mode of transportation you choose, be sure to inform the driver about the duration of your flight or trek so that they can plan to pick you up without any problems. After visiting the shrine and spending some time there, we'll check into a hotel for the night.
After a wonderful and peaceful prayer ceremony, followed by a tasty breakfast, we say goodbye to our hotel and begin our trip back from Kedarnath to Sonprayag. Your driver will be waiting for you at the agreed meeting point, and together, we'll drive back to Guptkashi, where we'll check in to our hotel once more. The rest of the day has no specific plans, allowing you ample time to soak in the positive and spiritual vibes of the journey so far. It's a perfect opportunity to relax and prepare for the upcoming days of our adventure.
Today, we'll start our day between 7-8 in the morning. Enjoy one final breakfast together, and then we'll make our way back to Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun, depending on your choice. Our soul-enriching journey to Kedarnath will come to an end as we bid farewell to each other in Haridwar, with an expected arrival time of 6-8 pm. This adventure and the trek will have a profound impact on you, touching your inner self. It will fill us with a deep sense of peace, tranquility, and happiness, as if we've been blessed by Lord Shiva. Let's all give thanks to Lord Shiva for this incredible experience.
